Important things to do this week: Important Things to do This Week!

1. If you have not done so yet (and thank you to those who have!), Please have your gymnast write a thank you letter to her main coach (she can also write one to any of the other coaches of course). Please turn the letter in with a small picture (4×6 or smaller) and a suggested $10 donation toward end of the year coaches’ gifts to Mandy ASAP (no later than this Fri). If I am not in the gym, please put it in the red folder labeled Coaches’ gift in the bin outside Kristin’s office (Please make sure any money is in an envelope with your/your gymnast’s name on it). If you have any questions, email me at melmer. Even if you can’t afford a donation, I really would like a thank you note from every gymnast to give to the coaches.

2. Turn in RSVP for Recognition Ceremony if you haven’t yet

3. Please sign up on SUG to bring something to either the Ceremony or Sleep-over

Volunteers Needed

Assembly of the Spring Floor will be happening this Friday April 24th at 5:30pm down at the Lodge. The more help we get, the faster the process. Please send me an email if you are able to help. I will be coaching in the gym but Andy Deuitch will lead the volunteers. Thank you so much in advance and I really enjoyed the positive feedback. I think we are all getting very excited. J

*groups within our team will be split due to multiple practice areas. All gymnast are still required to come in through the front doors of the y. All girls will report to the gym. No one will should be getting picked up or dropped off at the back gate.

Regional Parents:

· Be 20 minutes early…host team has the ability to move sessions up if we are early.

· Communicate with the coaches- Call me on my cell if you need anything. 859.802.5908

· Have your gymnast ready when they arrive to the competition

Seeking Support for the Mission

As most of you may know, the Y has launched the 2015 community campaign and we only have 2 weeks to go. This year, our goal is $20,000 and we are half way there! I know some of you have already given and thank you so much but for the others, I am reaching out for support. I wanted to see if you or maybe your company would be interested in supporting Powel Crosley?

Our Annual Campaign is the cornerstone of our responsibility as a nonprofit. Your participation will make certain that we turn no one away for an inability to pay. I personally provide gymnastics team families with scholarships and gymnastics classes for the youth in our community. Powel Crosley provided $160,00 in financial assistance in 2014, that is an amazing impact we left on our community.

Anything your family or business can do will help. Please let Stephanie Haarlammert or myself know if you are interested in giving before April 30th. We would be more than happy to give you additional information or a pledge form.

Please let us know if you have any questions!

Gymnast Tip for Parents

Cheer Them On To Victories, Empathize With Them in Their Defeat

Give your child unconditional love. Be there for them whether they win or lose. Make them feel loved when they are victorious, and even more so when they are defeated. Your child will need this kind of acceptance and support to thrive. You would want your child to be able to take chances, whatever the result may be. Some kids don’t handle pressure very well, so don’t send the message that they have to win in order to have your love.

Young athletes who know defeat or have performed poorly already feel bad. Don’t make them feel even worse. Let your child know you believe in them and their abilities. That the important thing is, they did their best, and that eventually, they’ll get even better.

Use your child’s defeat as a teaching experience, and explain to them what they might learn from it.

Thanks for all you do to support our amazing program.

Recognition Ceremony – Debbie Recognition Ceremony has been moved to the gym due to the set up of the spring floor. The SUG for items to donate is below. It also contains items needed for the sleepover.

Team Building – Stephanie On Thursday, May 14, we will have a team-building event at Zip City (in Sports Plus) at 10765 Reading Rd.

Families can show up anytime between 3-11pm and pay $20 per person (child or adult) for 3 hours of trampolines, zip lines, and a rock wall. The $20 also includes two slices of pizza and a pop. To do the zipline and rock wall, children must be over age 3 and more than 30 inches tall. Anyone over 250 lbs. cannot participate.

Some families have said they’d arrive around 4:30 if others want to maximize playtime with their friends/teammates and still be out of there by 7:30-8pm. There is a restaurant/bar within Sports Plus and plenty of seating where parents can watch their children, so adults are welcome to socialize, too, without paying the $20 to be on the equipment. Check out for more info, and watch for flyers in the family folders.

Contact Stephanie Haarlammert with any questions.
